As part of our endless pursuit of excellence, the Cancer Institute at Flagler Health+ wants you to be fully informed about your cancer diagnosis and any related clinical trials. Clinical trials help advance medical science and provide cancer patients with additional treatment options. These trials test experimental medicines and procedures in cooperation with patient volunteers to determine the effectiveness of new treatment methods. Modern cancer care owes a tremendous debt to clinical trial volunteers who contribute to the next great breakthrough in oncology research.
Flagler Health+ draws upon the expertise of our cancer institute's staff to participate in National Cooperative Intergroup trials along with other leading cancer programs nationwide. Flagler offers a wide range of chemotherapy and radiation trials under the auspices of the Institutional Review Board, allowing data gathered to be pooled with results from other eminent institutions.
Whether or not to participate in a cancer clinical trial is a very important choice. Your oncologist will help you and your family learn more about clinical trials that may supplement your customized treatment program.
